I want to make a large poster
from my digital camera. How big can the poster be? |
|
Generally, to get the exceptional print quality
that you would expect from a conventional photo, your image needs to be at
least 100dpi. Resolutions lower than that will result in a pixilated
print. The table below will give you an idea of the maximum print size
for your image. |

I want a poster larger that what
the table says. Can you do that? |
| |
While the image quality mainly depends upon the
image size, there are a couple of other factors that may allow for bigger
prints. First of all, while it is recommended that the image be large
enough to result in 100dpi, we can generally work with images in a way that
allow us to print images slightly larger than the table. As a rule of
thumb, we can usually exceed these sizes by as much as 50%. This may
allow for us to print a 3 mega pixel image up to 20" x 30".
Secondly, as the print sizes increase, the intended viewing distance
increases as well. That is why interstate billboards may only be
printed at 8dpi, but the images look fantastic from the ground. In the
same way, large format prints are intended on being viewed from several feet
away. Let our designers look at the image and discuss with you what
the possibilities are. |

Proportions |
|
I have a picture from my digital
camera that I want to print in a panoramic format. Can I do this? |
| |
Generally speaking, images from digital cameras
are 1.5 times as wide as they are tall. If you want a different
proportion, you will need to crop the picture with an image editing program
(Photoshop, Photoshop elements, etc.) Special care should be given to
saving the file so that the image is not compressed. If you are having
trouble with this, send us the file and we would be glad to do this step for
you. |
| |
|
|
Compression |
|
Should I use .jpeg compression
to make my file size smaller? |
| |
JPEG compression is a way of making the file
size smaller, so that it will be easier to transmit over the internet.
The problem is that with this compression comes a loss of image quality.
JPEG compression almost always results in an image that is unable to be
printed in large format. |

Sending
Files |
|
The file that I'm trying to send
is really large, and the Online Order Page doesn't seem to be working?
What do I do now? |
| |
If your internet browser seems to hang on the
online order page, there are several other ways that you can get your file
to us.
- First, you can attach your file to an email. Some internets
service providers have a file size limit of as little as 1mb. If you
know your file size is smaller that your limit, email is the best
alternative.
- Second, you can follow the link below that will take you to our ftp
site. With Internet Explorer, this will take you to a log in page,
where you can log in as
|
| |
ftp://miracleprint.com/upload

|
| |
Once you are logged in, you simply copy and paste your artwork, the
same as if you were copying your file to your own hard drive.
- Third, if time permits, we would be glad to accept your files on
CD-ROM. You will find our address on the
Contact Us page.

|
|
Payment |
|
When will I be billed? |
| |
You will be invoice once your artwork and order
form have been completed, and our designers have reviewed your order.
We will generate a proof of your design, and a
PayPal invoice, and we will forward both to you via email.
Once we receive your payment, we will process your order. |

Fonts |
|
How do I know that the fonts
that I used in my artwork will print correctly? |
| |
If you have prepared your files in one of the
formats below, and you have used a font that is delivered with the software,
we will be able to accurately reproduce your fonts. If you know that
you have a special font, please attach the font with your order.
Remember, you will see a proof copy of your work before we process it, so
rest assured that you will get what you want. |

|
Shipping |
|
I've ordered a poster mounted on
foamcor. How will it be shipped? |
| |
Prints that are mounted on foamcor and
gatorboard are shipped UPS. Due to the high cost of shipping large
parcels, we only ship mounted prints up to 30"x42". You may want to
consider a laminated decal. This means the front of the print would be
laminated, and the back of the print would have an adhesive film applied.
You local frame shop will be able to apply the print to foamcor for you. |
|
Durability |
|
I notice that you list all of
your products as in-door only. Why is this? |
| |
In order to provide our customers with the most
vibrant prints, we print with dye inks. While these inks have proven
to be extremely durable indoors when laminated, HP does not rate them for
outdoors, primarily because the are susceptible to moisture. You may
be successful in using our prints for temporary, short-term outdoor
applications. |
